How to Set Up an Amazon Seller Account in Ireland

A practical guide to registering through Seller Central Europe, preparing documents, completing verification and getting your account ready for amazon.ie.

To set up an Amazon seller account from Ireland, start through Seller Central Europe, choose a selling plan and enter details that match your supporting documents. Amazon will ask you to complete identity, payment and tax information before you can use the account to sell on amazon.ie. Prepare your details in advance and allow time for verification rather than assuming registration is complete when you submit the form.

What to have ready before you start

Gather the details for the person or business that will own the account. If you are registering a business, have its registered name, address and registration details to hand, along with information about the person authorised to act for it. If you are registering as an individual, use your own accurate personal details. You should also expect to be asked for:

  • A current identity document for the person being verified, and potentially documents supporting the business details you enter.
  • A bank account for receiving sales proceeds and a chargeable card for account charges.
  • An email address and phone number you can access during registration and afterwards.
  • Your business address and contact information, entered consistently across the form and any documents.

Amazon may request different evidence depending on your circumstances. Check the instructions shown in Seller Central before uploading anything, and make sure documents are clear, complete and current.

Choose between Individual and Professional

Seller Central Europe offers Individual and Professional selling plans. Individual may suit someone testing a small number of listings; Professional is generally intended for sellers who need a broader set of selling features or expect to sell regularly. The plans differ in how charges work and in the tools available, so the right choice depends on your expected activity rather than on where in Ireland you live.

Review Amazon’s current plan comparison during registration. Consider whether you need particular listing, reporting or advertising features, and check the charges that apply to your intended products. Do not confuse the selling plan with your legal status: selecting Individual does not, by itself, decide whether you are operating as a business for tax purposes.

Register through Seller Central Europe

Use Amazon’s seller registration route for Europe and follow the prompts for your circumstances. The screens can change, but the process generally involves creating or signing in with an Amazon account, selecting a selling plan and entering the seller’s details. You can then expect to provide contact, bank and card information, complete the requested tax information and submit any verification evidence Amazon asks for.

Enter names and addresses exactly as you can substantiate them. For example, distinguish between a registered business name and a trading name when the form asks for each. Read the prompts before submitting: a mismatch between an account field and a document can be harder to resolve than a question caught while you are still filling in the form.

Registering as a seller is separate from arranging Fulfilment by Amazon. If you want Amazon to handle fulfilment later, see how to sign up for Amazon FBA in Ireland. For the broader decisions involved in selling on amazon.ie, read our guide to selling on Amazon Ireland.

Complete identity and business verification

Expect Amazon to check that the account owner and, where applicable, the business are who you say they are. Seller Central may ask for identity documents, evidence of a business’s existence or address, and information about people connected with the business. It may also offer a further identity-check step. Follow the requests shown for your account rather than relying on another seller’s document list: the evidence needed can vary.

Registrations commonly stall when an uploaded image is cropped or unreadable, a document is out of date, or names and addresses do not match what was entered. A bank account or card that cannot be validated, an inaccessible phone or email address, or a missed request in Seller Central can also delay progress. If a submission is rejected, read the stated reason and the current upload instructions before trying again. Correct the relevant account details or provide a suitable replacement document; repeatedly sending the same unclear file is unlikely to help.

Keep access to the registration email and check Seller Central for follow-up requests. If the reason for a hold is unclear, use the support options available in your account and refer to the specific verification request when asking for help.

Handle the tax information carefully

Seller Central includes tax-information questions as part of account setup. Answer them using your actual circumstances and keep the information consistent with the seller details you have registered. An Amazon account application does not determine your Irish tax obligations, and a completed tax section is not a substitute for checking them.

The treatment of your sales can depend on how and where you operate. For guidance on VAT registration, records or other Irish tax matters, consult Revenue, the Irish tax authority, or a qualified adviser. If Amazon asks for a tax identifier or supporting information and you are unsure what applies, resolve that question before submitting an answer you cannot verify.

Once your account is approved

Sign in to Seller Central and confirm that your business, payment, contact and tax details are correct. Check the marketplace and account settings relevant to selling on amazon.ie, including your delivery and returns arrangements, before creating a listing. Some products or categories may require separate permission, so check the listing requirements for the products you intend to sell.

Before setting a price, use the fee calculator to examine selling costs and the profit calculator to test whether a product works after your own costs. You can find other planning calculators in the Ireland seller tools hub. Account approval is the beginning of listing preparation, not a guarantee that every product is ready to go live.
