Amazon changes its fees from time to time, and some categories have tiered rates or minimum fees. Confirm the rate for your category in Seller Central before you rely on it.
Gross margin is the foundation of a sustainable FBA business. With Amazon fees typically consuming 25–35% of revenue and PPC another 10–20%, you need strong gross margin before fees just to survive. A product with 20% gross margin has very little left after Amazon takes its cut.
The 'good FBA margin' rule of thumb: you need at least 50% gross margin (product cost vs sell price) before Amazon fees to end up with a viable 15–25% net margin after all platform costs. Products that look attractive at low markups rarely work at Amazon's fee levels.
